Methods of Tracking
- Taking notes
- Recording yourself and comparing with your older footage
- seeking advice/another person's perspective
What to Track
Foundation
- The number of foundation movements and steps that you know
- Your knowledge and understanding of the culture and history behind hip-hop and breaking, as well as the other elements of hip-hop (DJing, MCing, Rapping, etc.)
Artistry
- Your movement vocabulary, and the number of new, unique, and original moves you have you created. Create a video library of moves that you have created. After a few years, you might have hundreds of moves created!
- The evolution of your moves and whether you have added more variation, style, combinations.
- Your style by recording yourself, seeing whether it has evolved, and asking yourself how happy you are with it, whether it is close to your ideal style that you have in your mind, whether it is unique or original.
Technique
- How well you do your moves, your form, and how well you are able to smoothly and naturally flow in and out of each move.
Execution
- How often you crash, especially your high-difficulty moves. Do you crash less than before? Are you able to consistently execute your moves?
- The dynamics of your moves. Are you moves more powerful than before? Can you vary the intensity of your moves?
